Supporting Healthy, Successful Students

Bellevue School District data indicates that only 55–65% of our middle school students feel a sense of belonging to their school. More alarming, over the past two years there has been an average of 30 reported attempted suicides in our middle schools and the actual number may be higher. The Social & Emotional Learning Initiative for middle school and high school students aims to address the unique challenges that today’s adolescents face.

By implementing the MindUp Social & Emotional Learning curriculum, the Bellevue School District seeks to shift the culture and climate of our schools and increase students’ sense of belonging, safety, and engagement.

Bellevue Schools Foundation donors are supporting this initiative in the 2017-2018 school year by funding $60,000 to enable the District to train educators and school staff at middle schools to begin to shift the way they communicate with students.
